Regional Transportation & Logistics Manager

Job Description

The Regional Transportation & Logistics Manager will drive delivery execution excellence and improve financial performance across a multi-site logistics network. This role demands a self-directed leader who independently drives change and delivers results across a complex, matrixed logistics network. You will play a key role in transforming delivery performance, reducing cost-to-serve, and enabling scalable logistics solutions in alignment with business goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive Delivery Performance:
    Ensure on-time, in-full (OTIF) delivery across the region by identifying gaps, optimizing transportation planning, and driving executional rigor.
  • Lead Through Influence:
    Align cross-functional stakeholders (including warehouse operations, customer service, transportation planners, and carriers) around common goals and accountability without direct authority.
  • Cost and Financial Performance:
    Monitor and analyze regional transportation spend, identify cost-saving opportunities, and execute logistics strategies to improve the financial performance of the region.
  • Carrier & 3PL Management:
    Partner with third-party carriers and logistics providers to manage performance, resolve service issues, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Performance Monitoring & Analytics:
    Use KPIs, dashboards, and root cause analysis to drive data-informed decisions, improve service reliability, and reduce avoidable costs such as detention, late fees, or re-deliveries.
  • Problem Solving & Escalation:
    Act as the point of contact for escalated delivery issues and systemic transportation problems, ensuring timely resolution and long-term corrective actions.
  • Compliance & Safety:
    Ensure adherence to transportation regulations, carrier safety requirements, and internal logistics policies.

 

    Qualifications

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related field.
    • 5+ years of experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain operations, preferably in a regional or multi-site capacity.
    • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and external partners without direct reporting lines.
    • Strong analytical skills with experience using transportation management systems (TMS), ERP tools, and Excel or BI platforms for performance tracking.
    • Deep understanding of carrier operations, routing, and distribution network dynamics.
    • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and negotiation skills.
    • Ability to travel regionally as needed (up to 50%).

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience in manufacturing, or building products distribution.
    • Lean or Six Sigma certification.
    • Familiarity with fleet operations and private carrier models.
