JOB OVERVIEW:

Common Sense is seeking a dynamic individual to serve as President of the organization to drive transformational growth, amplify our organization's impact and drive our financial growth. This executive leadership role will spearhead our revenue and fundraising initiatives, forge powerful business partnerships and elevate our public presence while working in close partnership with our CEOs and Executive Team to achieve ambitious strategic objectives.

The ideal candidate will be an inspiring communicator and relationship builder who can compellingly articulate our mission to diverse audiences - from business leaders to philanthropists to media outlets and community stakeholders. With a proven track record in revenue generation and public leadership, the President will play a pivotal role in securing our organization's future and expanding our reach to a broad set of communities.

REPORTS TO: Ellen Pack, Co-CEO

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Leadership & Revenue Generation

  • Collaborate with CEO to develop and implement strategic priorities that drive organizational growth and deliver on mission
  • Oversee and support comprehensive fundraising strategies to significantly grow our donor base and secure major gifts
  • Identify and cultivate business partnerships that create sustainable revenue streams while advancing our mission
  • Build and maintain relationships with high-capacity donors, foundation leaders, and corporate partners
  • Foster a culture of excellence, innovation, and commitment to our mission across advancement initiatives
  • Develop metrics and accountability systems to track progress toward strategic goals
  • Mentor and develop executive team members and other key leaders to achieve exceptional results

External Affairs & Public Leadership

  • Serve as a compelling spokesperson and thought leader, representing the organization at high-profile events and in media
  • Advance our public policy positions through strategic communications and stakeholder engagement
  • Build coalitions with peer organizations and influence key decision-makers to further our mission
