The Office of the District Attorney, Bronx County (“BXDA”) is charged with the twin goals of ensuring public safety and striving for equal justice for the over 1.4 million members of the Bronx County community. By “Pursuing Justice with Integrity,” the BXDA places a focus on assistance for crime victims while simultaneously ensuring fairness to defendants. Moreover, the BXDA aims to balance the need to seek appropriate punishment for certain crimes while recognizing when punitive measures do not adequately advance justice. By recognizing these significant distinctions and acting accordingly, BXDA has established a standard of excellence in the representation of the Bronx community at large, which continues to grow stronger every day.
In furtherance of this mission, the BXDA seeks experienced and enthusiastic Training Coordinator to assist the Chief of Professional Staff training in training the professional staff. Responsible for scheduling staff for trainings, create attendance sheets, lecture, record attendance, and update all training databases documenting the attendance of staff.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specific duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Scheduling staff for trainings.
- Liaise with vendors and partners related to professional development trainings.
- Coordinate training projects, promote up-skilling opportunities, track agency participation and compliance.
- Create attendance sheets, lecture, record attendance, and update all training databases documenting the attendance of staff
- Perform related duties assigned by the Director as needed.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
- A baccalaureate degree preferred or a high school diploma with four (4) years of work experience in a law firm or District Attorney’s Office.
- Must have at least two years Trial Preparation Assistant or Paralegal experience in a District Attorney’s Office or other law enforcement agency.
- Candidate should possess excellent analytical, logical thinking and problem-solving skills, a sense of responsibility, and an ability to work well independently and in a team environment.
- Excellent written and verbal interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills with an ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and case management software
- Must become proficient in understanding CPL 160.59 and will be assigned CPL 160.59 motions to create folders and save the paperwork on the N: drive, update the sealing database and BXDA, review, research if necessary, and draft the People’s response for the Chief to ultimately sign
- Must know how to use Adobe Pro DC, when redacting documents. Must be able to create training material and PowerPoint presentations.
- Must possess good public speaking skills.
- Ability to lecture on critical Trial Preparation Assistant (TPA) topics such as recognition of police paperwork, how to order various trial documents and all other duties of a TPA (all levels).
- Required to assist the general public who come to the office to serve a CPL 160.59 motion/application and be able to provide the proper guidance as to sufficiency of the motion/application and be able to explain the steps after the motion is served on the District Attorney.
- Must be able to collaborate with other staff and City Agencies.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and strong ethics.
- Exhibit an ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
- Familiar with the District Attorney’s Office discovery protocol.

Qualification Requirements
1. High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or
2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above.
