The New York City Fire Department (FDNY) seeks a full-time Deputy Code Development Counsel in the Bureau of Legal Affairs. Reporting directly to the Fire Code Counsel, the successful candidate will: assist in developing, drafting, advocating for enactment of, implementing and interpreting the New York City Fire Code, Fire Department rules and other public safety legislation and rules; interact regularly with City agency executives and staff, both within and outside the Fire Department, including Mayors Office and City Council representatives, as well as representatives from real estate, professional, community and other organizations.

Admission to the New York State Bar; and four years of recent full-time responsible, relevant, satisfactory legal experience subsequent to admission to any bar, eighteen months of which must have been in the supervision of other attorneys, in an administrative, managerial or executive capacity, or performing highly complex and significant legal work.
Incumbents must remain Members of the New York State Bar in good standing for the duration of this employment.
