Serves as a Planner in the roadway Capital Planning & Initiation (CPI) unit, performing transportation/project planning and coordination work for DOT funded street reconstruction projects, including achieving the safety, transit, accessibility, and quality public realm goals of the NYC Streets Plan and DOTs Strategic Plan. Plans an effective capital program by developing, evaluating and prioritizing requests for projects in coordination with community members, agency project sponsors and other stakeholders. Makes recommendations on policy and procedures. Conducts field surveys, investigations, studies and analysis as needed for potential and ongoing projects and programs. Creatively develops scopes of work for transportation projects in coordination with other DOT divisions, agencies, community boards and elected officials. Prepares reports, performs analyses, and reviews traffic studies, program plans, funding, and performance. Matches projects with funding opportunities, assisting in preparing grant applications and obligation as needed. Prepares, reviews and assists in the development of project cost estimates. Tracks and updates project statuses and schedules in databases including MS Project. Represents the unit/division at public meetings with community members. Performs other related transportation infrastructure planning and coordination duties as assigned by supervisor.

1. A master's degree in transportation engineering, mathematics, urban planning, architecture, landscape architecture, urban studies, or related physical and social science fields; or
2. A baccalaureate degree in engineering from an accredited college and one year of full-time satisfactory experience performing technical work on roadway transportation and traffic studies and area-wide traffic programs; or
3. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of full-time satisfactory experience as described in "2" above; or
4. An associate degree or completion of 60 semester credits from an accredited college and four years of full-time satisfactory experience as described in "2" above; or
5. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and six years of full-time satisfactory experience as described in "2" above.
