The New York City Department of Transportation’s (NYC DOT) provides safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible movement of pedestrians, goods, and vehicular traffic on the streets, highways, bridges, and waterways of the City's transportation network. NYC DOT’s Resiliency Planning & Management (RPM) team was created as part of the Agency’s commitment to strengthening resiliency for the City’s communities and infrastructure. Falling under the umbrella of NYC DOT’s Budget and Capital Program Management division, RPM is a uniquely versatile team with responsibilities spanning policy development, grant management, and capital planning.
RPM is seeking a Resiliency Project Manager to develop and oversee the implementation of waterfront rehabilitation projects citywide as part of an ongoing program. The successful candidate will support the monitoring and stewardship of the Agency’s waterfront right-of-way assets, with a focus on their structural state-of-good-repair and vulnerability to evolving climate hazards. Under supervision of the Assistant Director, RPM, the successful candidate’s core responsibilities shall include the following:
Responsibilities:
- Serve as DOT’s project lead for waterfront inspections, rehabilitation, and adaptation efforts carried out in partnership with the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYC EDC) through the Citywide Waterfront Inspection Program (CWIP)
- Catalog, prioritize, and track structural repair recommendations and implementation efforts for DOT’s population of waterfront assets
- Lead RPM team design reviews, providing substantive, resiliency-oriented feedback on scoping documents and design materials and coordinate DOT-wide reviews, ensuring timely, relevant feedback from stakeholders across DOT divisions
- Assist with updating/enhancing DOT’s climate change risk assessment procedures across multiple asset classes
- Keep team up to date on latest technology and best practices for mitigating against climate-related hazards within the public right-of-way

(1) Four (4) years of full-time, satisfactory experience in civil engineering work; and
(2) A valid New York State Professional Engineer’s License. Current New York State registration as a Professional Engineer must be maintained for the duration of your employment.
A masters degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university, accredited by regional, national, professional or specialized agencies recognized as accrediting bodies by the U.S. Secretary of Education and by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) may be substituted for one year of the civil engineering experience required in “1" above.
Special Note:
In addition to above qualification requirements, to be eligible for placement in Assignment Levels II and III, individuals must have at least one year within the last three years of experience as a major contributor or a project leader on a complex project requiring additional and specific expertise in the disciplines needed to design or construct the project.
