The Transportation Planning and Management Division (TPM) is responsible for the safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible movement of people and goods on the City's streets, supporting the larger goals of economic and social vitality for people living, working, and doing business in New York City. The Division’s responsibilities include planning, street design, technical analysis, signs, transit development, freight mobility and markings, ensuring the safety of motor vehicle occupants, pedestrians, and cyclists. The Research, Implementation, and Safety Unit (RIS) is a multi-disciplinary team dedicated to making the streets of New York City safer for all users as part of Vision Zero, a citywide policy striving to eliminate serious injuries and fatalities from traffic crashes. RIS uses a data-driven approach to design and implement street safety redesign projects, administer safety programs, promote senior and youth safety, manage crash data and data applications, conduct large-scale safety research projects, and lead agency action plans related to safety and Vision Zero programs/policy. This is an opportunity to work with a team dedicated to improving safety, accessibility, and mobility throughout New York City.

Research, Implementation & Safety (RIS) seeks an experienced and motivated candidate to work in its Speed Reducer Planning and Implementation Unit. Reporting to the Co-Director, the candidate will assist with administrative tasks supporting the Speed Reducer Program and other programmatic activities related to the Vision Zero Initiative. The candidate will manage activities supporting the various safety initiatives, including furnishing needed information and preparing various reports. The Administrative Associate will screen and respond to Agency Response Tracking System (ARTS) requests, update relevant records in the Speed Reducer Tracking System (SRTS), assist with correspondence, prepare monthly reports, update weekly status reports, which are viewed by executive staff, and maintain digital records. This role will also draft letters and e-mails in response to inquiries and/or complaints from elected officials, citizens, and other city agencies. Must be a clear and effective communicator, both verbally and through written reports and correspondence.

Preferred Skills
Must possess excellent verbal and writing skills. Proficiency in MS Word and Excel. Ability to maintain confidentiality and work in an efficient manner, manage daily tasks effectively, independently, and in a timely manner. Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.

Hours/Shift: 35 hours / 8:00 am to 4:00 pm

Note: Less than 2 yrs. City Service - New Hire Rate: $53,370. City service - Minimum Incumbent Rate: $61,376.

PRINCIPAL ADMINISTRATIVE ASSOC - 10124

Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and three years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience, one year of which must have been in an administrative capacity or supervising staff performing clerical/administrative work of more than moderate difficulty; or
2. An associate degree or 60 semester credits from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience including one year of the administrative supervisory experience described in "1" above; or
3. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and five years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience including one year of the administrative supervisory experience as described in "1" above;
4. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1", "2", or "3" above. However, all candidates must possess the one year of administrative or supervisory experience as described in "1" above. Education above the high school level may be substituted for the general clerical/administrative experience (but not for the one year of administrative or supervisory experience described in "1" above) at a rate of 30 semester credits from an accredited college for 6 months of experience up to a maximum of 3½ years.
