Manager, Enterprise Sales Engineering - East

Chainguard is a cloud-native security company focused on making open source software secure by default. The Manager, Enterprise Sales Engineering (East) will build and lead a team of Sales Engineers supporting Enterprise accounts on the U.S. East Coast, drive technical pre-sales strategy, own hiring and development, and partner closely with Sales and Product teams to accelerate deals and feed customer insights into the product roadmap.

  • Proficiency with MEDDPICC and/or Command of the Message
  • Leadership and people management
  • Technical sales strategy and POV management
  • Hiring, staffing, and team scaling
  • Metrics-driven performance management

Responsibilities

  • Partner with regional Sales leadership to develop and execute technical sales strategies and account plans for Enterprise customers.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Sales Engineers; drive hiring, onboarding, and professional development.
  • Staff and scale the Sales Engineering organization to support Chainguard’s Enterprise business growth.
  • Set performance goals, conduct regular evaluations, and implement improvement plans.
  • Collaborate with Sales to identify customer technical requirements and deliver technical expertise during the sales cycle.
  • Stay current with industry trends, competitive products, and emerging enterprise technologies.
  • Provide product management with customer feedback and market requirements.
  • Create and maintain technical sales collateral including presentations, datasheets, and whitepapers.
  • Track and report key performance metrics (Tech wins/losses, POV time to close, ARR).
  • Monitor team expenses and manage adherence to budgetary constraints.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Relevant certifications in cloud or security are a plus
