Venue Experience Coordinator (STATION DC)

Washington, DC, United States (on-site)

Reporting to Operations Associate

America became the most innovative country on earth by solving hard problems. That leadership is now at risk. Our adversaries are catching up. We’re in a global arms race across AI, energy, defense, space, robotics, healthcare, and education. If we don’t move fast, someone else will lead. Solving these problems requires deep collaboration between those building the future and those writing the rules.

DC writes the rules. It’s the center of power. If you are IMPORTANT, you spend time here. So, how does STATION DC fit into this? It’s a purpose-built home for tech, innovation, and global competitiveness in DC. We provide a 12k-square-foot space in the Union Market District for daily work/private meetings/events, we host our own high-leverage events, we provide educational content and mentorship, we share policy intelligence, and we are building a badass network of technologists, VCs, policymakers, military, industry, and philanthropists.

America, DC, and the West WIN if we unite and align these problem solvers. That’s what we do.

What Will You Do? Honestly, a little bit of everything. We’re a startup so you’ve got to be an athlete. You will primarily be the point person for all things related to our Clubhouse - space management, inventory management, maintenance, equipment, errands. You’ll manage relationships and help with vendors and service providers. You’ll support event setup and takedown. And most importantly, you’ll be the first (and probably last) person that all members, partners, and guests interact with. You’ll get to know them and help create REMARKABLE EXPERIENCES that help advance their missions. We could lie and say that you’ll only do x, y, z things. But we don’t have egos and we embrace reality. It’s the only way to improve.

How Will You Know If You Are Succeeding? If you create such REMARKABLE EXPERIENCES that every time that you interact with a member, partner, or prospect they tell someone else about it, and how ridiculously valuable, novel, different/unique, fun, or helpful it was. This includes:

  • Keeping the space breath-takingly beautiful and useful
  • Events running flawlessly
  • You don't need to be asked to do something, you are proactive and constantly find ways to take care of the space and solve problems
  • You notice when something needs attention, and fix it before anyone else notices
  • Supplies budget and inventory is on track
  • Processes are well-documented
  • Space is always fully stocked with abundant food, drink, and supplies
  • Everyone genuinely enjoys interacting with you

What’s It Like Working With Us? We move really really really fast. Yes, we are a non-profit. But we don’t walk, talk, think, or move like one. We’re different. We are in the Clubhouse 5-days-a-week - and we work long, non-traditional hours. We don’t have egos, but we have style - nothing we ever do is about us. We say “I don’t know” and then figure it out. We execute with precision and push the limits of what you thought was possible. We are demanding and supportive. We provide an uncomfortable amount of feedback because we are obsessed with improving. We’re never satisfied. We always find a way.

How Do You Know If You Are the Right Fit? You execute with speed but don’t sacrifice diligence. You are unreasonably hospitable. You sweat the little things. You are conscientious. You can “read the room.” You embrace hard things and new situations. You are intrinsically motivated. You have a lot of ambition. You love watching others succeed and genuinely want to help them accomplish their goals. You respond well to coaching and don’t need hand holding. You aren’t afraid to try things, make decisions, fail, own it, and not do it again. You live in DC and can work 5-days-a-week in the office. You are obsessed with improving. Maybe that means that you’ve previously worked with startups, in hospitality, VC, or were in the military. Doesn’t matter. What matters is alignment with our team:

  • You are insanely diligent and detail oriented - arguably neurotic
  • You are conscientious and can “read the room”
  • You LOVE helping people and learning about people
  • You are available to work 5-days-a-week in-person in DC from 8:30am to 5:30pm and occasionally work in the evening
  • You are a documentor
  • You are organized and plan ahead
  • You are a problem solver - you approach problems with “how could we make this work?”
  • You are never satisfied with the status quo
  • You stay calm - you are unfazed

Why Would You Work Here? Not sure. Most people probably wouldn’t want to work with us. You have to have a screw loose. Why would you do something where you work really hard and don’t get any personal glory? Because you love DC and America and want to commit to something bigger than yourself - and still be somewhere small enough to have a meaningful impact. And there is still a lot of personal gain. Your network will be unbelievable within 3 months of this. You’ll be in rooms you never thought you would be. You’ll learn how to get shit done. You’ll be around people solving problems that will shape the future. You’ll create a ton of optionality for yourself personally and professionally. And, yes, you’ll get all the good benefits including:

  • $65,000 annual salary
  • 4 weeks paid time off (one week is allocated between Christmas and New Year’s)
  • Personal health, vision and dental insurance paid 100% by STATION DC
  • Additional benefits such as 401k program (50% company matching), life insurance, short & long term disability and and employee assistance program
  • Parental leave including 10 weeks paid leave for birthing parents and 4 weeks paid leave for non-birthing parents
  • $1,000 personal innovation budget on your first year anniversary and then an additional $500 each anniversary thereafter
  • A priceless network

About STATION DC

STATION DC connects technologists, investors, policymakers, military leaders, and industry to solve consequential problems in the national interest. We do this by operating a 12,000-square-foot headquarters in Union Market that serves as a daily meeting ground for work, events, and collaboration; hosting curated roundtables, dinners, private briefings, and full-day summits; and providing education and mentorship that helps builders succeed in Washington by building authentic, durable relationships. Our north star is a relentless focus on delivering a world-class experience for our members and partners. We exist for DC and for America - to strengthen economic resilience and opportunity in the city we call home, and to bring builders and policymakers together with greater alignment, speed, and purpose to shape the country’s future.
