At BIC, diversity and inclusion are woven into the fabric of our culture. We foster an environment of belonging that encourages all team members to be curious about, to understand and to welcome different cultures, religions, and ethnicities. We strive to hire team members with different backgrounds and experiences to help us build better products, make better decisions and better serve our consumers and customers. We are committed to creating a workplace where everyone can be their best, most authentic selves.
In January 2021, BIC joined CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion™. By taking this pledge, CEO Gonzalve Bich has committed to take action to ensure our company’s culture celebrates and welcomes diverse perspectives and experiences and encourages open conversations about DE&I.
We believe true inclusion can only be achieved when we understand and embrace our differences. We’ve created a number of initiatives so all are able to grow and succeed at BIC.
Black Leadership Academy: McKinsey sponsored leadership development programs for black executive leaders and early to mid-career black leaders. We sent 19 participants in 2021 to attend these 3-6 month development programs aimed at enhancing capabilities, building critical skills and building relationships to grow personally and professionally while supporting their ongoing career progression.
D&I Allyship: 50+ volunteers who have a passion for D&I from around the globe have joined the movement to promote DE&I at BIC. Our purpose is to build awareness and provide education to our team members in order to foster more authentic exchanges and encourage curiosity and a stronger understanding of a day in the life of those different than you. We also commit to stronger outreach in the communities where we operate to build a more diverse talent pipeline.
Employee Resource Groups: Team members are encouraged to join one of our five ERGs:
EmpowHERment: Career development workshops and forums for women in supply chain around the globe. The opportunity provides women within the team the chance to connect and share their knowledge and experiences on how to successfully advance in BIC. Many ideas have been leveraged and implemented, including the creation of the WiSC Network (“Women in Supply Chain”). WiSC includes champions to co-build our strategies including career development training, coaching and educational programming. WiSC provides resources for team members to build an EmpowHerment culture and continue to proactively build an inclusive environment – where we can all unlock our full potential and make our organization stronger and better prepared for the challenges ahead.
Virtual Internships: We are currently participating in a Virtual Internship Program aimed at positively impacting diversity in the legal profession. The program provides training, exposure, and opportunities to diverse students facing the challenge of securing quality employment, by partnering with the National Bar Association in order to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in the legal talent pipeline.
In addition to the above, we have committed to:
