Position Summary
The newly formed Global Sales Operations & Effectiveness organization is leading the transformation of sales capabilities, positioning BD to become the strongest commercial organization in MedTech. The VP, Global Sales Intelligence will report to the SVP, Sales Operations & Effectiveness and serve as global owner of commercial data & analytics and the enterprise leader for AI enablement in sales — operationalizing decision intelligence at scale, building a high performing analytics operating model, and translating algorithmic impact into measurable business outcomes across Business Units and Regions.
The candidate will lead and inspire the global commercial data and analytics strategy, driving data standardization, integration, and advanced analytics across all sales functions. This leader will empower the sales, marketing, and customer success organizations with accurate forecasting, actionable insights, predictive analytics, and robust data governance, enabling data-driven decision-making and revenue growth. The candidate will champion the adoption of AI and innovative analytics solutions, ensure compliance with privacy and security regulations, and foster a high-performing, data-centric culture across the enterprise.
Key Responsibilities
Data Strategy, Governance & Risk Management
Define and implement a global commercial data strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives and integration across CRM, ERP, and analytics platforms.
Lead the development and execution of data governance frameworks, ensuring data quality, integrity, and compliance with regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
Oversee the management and evolution of the commercial data ecosystem to enable visibility to customer demand and empower sale associates to understand customer needs. Platforms include Salesforce, Master Data, PowerBI, and emerging technologies.
Establish and enforce data standards, policies, and best practices for data management and analytics across the commercial organization.
Partner closely with Global Business Services (GBS), Business Units, and Regions to overhaul standards (process, systems, tools) for customer master data, ensuring accuracy and effectiveness in sales operations.
Own the enterprise AI strategy for commercial, including model portfolio management (predictive, prescriptive, GenAI), and LLMOps for safe, scalable deployment.
Stand up self-service analytics and governed semantic layers so commercial teams can access trusted insights on demand.
Partner with IT to embed AI services into the core tech stack (feature stores, model registries, CI/CD for ML, observability) with clear RACI across business/IT.
Implement responsible AI controls (bias testing, drift monitoring, explainability, human-in-the-loop decisioning) and integrate with data governance councils and InfoSec.
Advanced Analytics & Insights
Move the organization from traditional business intelligence to decision intelligence, integrating analytics with workflow automation (e.g., next best action in CRM, dynamic pricing recommendations in CPQ).
Establish closed-loop impact measurement — link models and insights to P&L metrics (win rates, cycle times, attach rates, margin lift).
Be a thought leader on all things AI — partnering with IT, Finance, and GBS to develop novel GenAI and Agentic AI solutions with new capabilities that leverage a ChatGPT and Claude-style approach where users can type in questions and see real-time analytics as responses.
Drive the development of advanced analytic models to visualize the run rate business across Business Units and Regions. Enable accurate and timely understanding of forecasting, pipeline health, revenue optimization, pricing, and customer segmentation.
Translate complex data into actionable insights for commercial leaders and cross-functional teams, supporting strategic planning and operational improvements.
Deliver real-time KPIs and dashboards to enable executive decision-making and monitor sales process health.
Champion diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics to identify growth opportunities and optimize resource allocation.
Define and manage commercial data products (e.g., opportunity health, price elasticity, account potential) with product owners, versioning, and lifecycle governance.
Commercial Enablement & Collaboration
Partner with Sales, Marketing, Finance, HR, and IT teams to develop and deploy data-driven tools and solutions that enhance commercial effectiveness.
Collaborate with Finance and business leaders to develop predictive tools leveraging sales funnel data for budgeting, risk management, and strategic initiatives.
Lead the definition and documentation of key commercial metrics and business logic, ensuring clarity, consistency, and accuracy across all data outputs.
Leadership, Collaboration & Change Management
Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing team of data analysts, data scientists, and data engineers.
Define governance structures, best practices, and standards to be used by data analysts throughout the Business Units and Regions.
Foster a culture of data excellence, continuous learning, and innovation.
Act as a trusted advisor to the executive team, influencing enterprise-wide decisions on commercial data strategy and analytics investments.
Partner with Business Unit Presidents and Regional Leaders to address local needs and prioritize initiatives.
Work closely with Business Unit and Regional Leaders to drive adoption of new standards (tools, processes, systems) and change management across the organization.
Qualifications
10+ years of progressive leadership experience in commercial data, analytics, or related fields, preferably within technology, MedTech, or similarly regulated sectors. Deep understanding of what great commercial analytics and insights look like and how to transfer and enable that capability on a global scale.
5+ years in a global senior leadership position with multiple direct reports.
Data science skill set, supported by proven deliverables that drive data visibility and real time analytics.
AI native — someone who truly understands AI and the evolving landscape of solutions that are possible.
Deep expertise in Salesforce.com, data visualization, predictive modeling, advanced analytics techniques, and AI/ML.
Proven track record of gathering data across disparate sources (SFDC, Marketo, Oracle, SAP, etc.) and harmonizing to deliver real insights.
Technical proficiency in data architecture, data engineering, and cloud-based analytics environments.
Strong leadership with a demonstrated ability to effectively motivate teams and drive influence across a matrixed organization.
Understanding of Lean techniques to drive problem solving, waste elimination, and most importantly, development, rollout, and adoption of new practices.
Proven track record of strong stakeholder and change management skills as evidenced by implementing large-scale data and analytics solutions, driving global adoption, and delivering measurable business impact.

Ability to put together concise communication (PPTX, email, white papers) and present to senior leadership in a professional and direct manner.
Proven track record of learning agility — taking on new projects and roles and demonstrating success within an accelerated time frame.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science); MBA or advanced degree preferred.
Desired Skills & Experience
Experience leading global teams and managing cross-functional global projects.
Experience with Oracle CPQ, ServiceNow, Monday.com, or similar commercial technology stacks.
Global experience living or working abroad.
Experience in Med Tech / Life Science / Diagnostic Industry.
Knowledge of regulatory framework for medical devices, federal, state, or local mandates including, but not limited to FDA, OSHA, EPA, SFDA, etc.
