Skills
- Experience with multi-physics modeling tools (ALE3D, Autodyn/LS-Dyna, CTH, Sierra, Zapotec, EPIC).
- Proficiency in Matlab and Python for analysis and automation.
- Test engineering skills: data acquisition, instrumentation, test planning, and data analysis.
- Experience with explosive/munitions handling and test operations (safety-focused).
- Ability to produce clear engineering documentation and drawings.
- Willingness and ability to travel for testing (up to ~25%).
- Eligible to obtain and hold U.S. Top Secret security clearance.
Responsibilities
- Steer warhead and ordnance design from concept through production using literature, empirical data, and simulation.
- Perform lethality and performance analysis with hand calculations (e.g., Gurney) and multi-physics tools.
- Create pre-test predictions, correlate models with test data, and refine simulations based on results.
- Plan and manage arena and system testing, including design of experiments, safety planning, and logistics.
- Collect and analyze test data and video from ground and flight tests; produce technical reports.
- Assemble/disassemble explosive test articles and precision targets under safety protocols.
- Prepare engineering documentation: specifications, test procedures, technical reports, and drawings.
Education
- BS or higher in Mechanical, Aerospace, Explosives, or related engineering discipline.
