Skills
- Proficient CAD modeling and FEA experience
- Hands-on mechanical design and hardware development
- Basic heat transfer and thermodynamics understanding
- Experience with fluid (liquid/gas) handling systems
- Knowledge of GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis
- Familiarity with structural analysis methods and tools
- Understanding of manufacturing processes (machining, welding, brazing, tube bending)
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills
Responsibilities
- Design and develop thermal control hardware for the Dragon spacecraft, including in-house and vendor components
- Perform CAD modeling and structural/thermal analysis (FEA) of thermal control elements
- Conduct fluid system analyses and systems engineering tasks for thermal subsystems
- Collaborate with avionics, GNC, mission ops, production, and test teams to ensure requirements and integration
- Ensure designs are manufacturable and transition smoothly to production with minimal sustaining engineering
- Plan and support test setups, data acquisition, and qualification testing
- Drive technical accountability and documentation for assigned components
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline (required)
- Master’s degree in an engineering discipline (preferred)
