Staff Additive Simulation Engineer
Skills
- Proficiency with multiphysics CAE tools (ABAQUS, ANSYS, Flow3D or equivalent)
- Strong fundamentals in heat transfer, mechanics, metallurgy, and material behavior
- Experience with automated/dynamic meshing and large model setup
- Scripting experience to automate workflows (Python, C++, Fortran)
- Design of Experiments (DOE) and statistical validation methodologies
- Model calibration, verification, and experimental correlation
- Familiarity with high-performance computing environments (preferred)
- Ability to communicate technical results to cross-functional teams
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and refine multiphysics simulation models for metal additive manufacturing using commercial and custom tools
- Calibrate, verify, and validate models using experimental build and test data
- Create automated workflows for parametric studies, uncertainty quantification, and sensitivity analysis using scripting and HPC
- Apply automated and dynamic meshing techniques and manage large-scale simulation setups
- Collaborate with process, materials, design, and manufacturing teams to translate simulation findings into actionable process changes
- Document model assumptions, limitations, and results; prepare technical reports and stakeholder presentations
- Monitor and adopt advances in AM process modeling, simulation methodologies, and process control
Education
- BS or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Welding Engineering, or equivalent
- Advanced degree (MS/PhD) preferred but not required
