Skills
- Strong proficiency in CAD for complex fixturing and tooling (NX preferred)
- Deep knowledge of composite and metallic airframe manufacturing and assembly processes
- Ability to perform load path reasoning, hand calculations, and structural analysis
- Hands-on fabrication, prototyping, and assembly experience
- Experience developing and qualifying tooling, fixtures, and production processes
- Familiarity with metrology and verification methods for aircraft assembly
Responsibilities
- Own and drive mechanical design of a new air vehicle from concept through low-rate production
- Define requirements, propose solutions, and establish evaluation/verification methodologies for mechanical systems
- Lead design reviews, perform analysis, prototype hardware, and execute test plans
- Work cross-functionally with electrical, software, and systems teams to ensure integrated, reliable vehicle designs
- Design and support assembly fixturing, tooling, and manufacturing processes through procurement, build, and implementation
- Visit vendors and test sites; support customer hardware demonstrations as needed
- Improve team tools, templates, processes, and standards to increase development speed and manufacturability
- Balance subsystem tradeoffs for mass, cost, manufacturability, and performance
Education
- BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience
