Pay Range
$22.80 – 31.00 Hourly
This position is under a step structure. Please note that the step placement is determined by your most recent completed academic year.
We have multiple openings for undergraduate students to join the Cyber and Critical Infrastructure Summer Institute (CSI) and to work on topics related to power systems resilience and security that align with LLNL’s national security missions. The 2026 CSI program will run during the summer with a range of start dates between May 18, 2026, and June 22, 2026 and flexible end dates through September 25, 2026. CSI is designed to provide selected candidates an opportunity to apply their skills to projects in areas of national importance such as energy infrastructure modernization and resilience, critical infrastructure security, and defense critical infrastructure. The program will include opportunities to participate in professional and technical development activities with lab Subject Matter Experts, network with fellow interns and lab employees, and learn about the breadth of LLNL’s support to US national security.

None required. However, this position involves U.S. Export Control; this work must be performed by a U.S. person (U.S. citizen, U.S. lawful permanent resident, U.S. national, or U.S. protected individual (e.g., refugee, asylee)).

Per the Department of Energy (DOE), Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory must meet certain restrictions with the use and/or possession of mobile devices in Limited Areas. Depending on your job duties, you may be required to work in a Limited Area where you are not permitted to have a personal and/or laboratory mobile device in your possession. This includes, but not limited to cell phones, tablets, fitness devices, wireless headphones, and other Bluetooth/wireless enabled devices.
If you use a medical device, which pairs with a mobile device, you must still follow the rules concerning the mobile device in individual sections within Limited Areas. Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities require separate approval. Hearing aids without wireless capabilities or wireless that has been disabled are allowed in Limited Areas, Secure Space and Transit/Buffer Space within buildings.
