This is an excellent opportunity for an individual eager to develop their skills and gain valuable experience in the estimation field. The Junior Estimator will assist in preparing accurate cost estimates, evaluating project bids, and collaborating with senior estimators to ensure our projects are competitively priced and financially viable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Value Engineering: Assist senior estimators in identifying opportunities for cost-saving measures, such as alternative materials, methods, or design solutions that can provide better value without compromising project quality.
  • Documentation: Ensure that all estimates, reports, and documentation are properly filed, updated, and stored in the company’s estimating system for future reference.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks related to the cost and schedule of projects and work with senior estimators to develop risk mitigation strategies.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the project management, engineering, and procurement teams to ensure that estimates align with the overall project scope and objectives.
  • Reporting: Assist in providing regular updates to senior management regarding project bids, estimates, and any changes in project scope or costs.
  • Site Visits: Participate in site visits to assess existing conditions and gather information to refine estimates.

Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
  • Experience: 0-2 years of experience in construction estimation or a related role, preferably in the water/wastewater treatment, pump stations, or civil construction sectors.
  • Basic knowledge of construction processes, materials, and methods, particularly within water/wastewater treatment and civil construction projects.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively under deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Certifications: Associate Estimator certification (AACE, AIA, or similar) is a plus but not required.
  • Knowledge: Basic understanding of local construction codes and regulations, particularly in the water/wastewater industry.
  • Technical Proficiency: Exposure to project management or estimating software tools is highly desirable.
