Senior Control Systems Engineer
Skills
- 5+ years working with complex electro-mechanical scanning and pointing systems (design, analysis, alignment, test)
- Experience creating control hardware and software for optical systems in visible and IR domains
- Strong background in estimation and control for linear and non-linear systems
- Proficiency with Matlab and Simulink or similar modeling tools
- Experience selecting sensors, motors, drivers, isolators, and motor controllers to meet performance requirements
- Hands-on experience validating models through lab prototyping and test
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance
Responsibilities
- Lead architecture, system trades, and design for precision scanning, pointing, and stabilization solutions
- Derive and allocate sensor line-of-sight and pointing performance requirements across disciplines
- Create and manage pointing control and pointing-knowledge error budgets including allocations, model predictions, and test results
- Design embedded hardware and software for control precision mechanisms
- Develop detailed system models predicting pointing, stabilization, and jitter performance
- Analyze and validate system performance with sub-assembly and full-system prototypes
- Develop and review test setups, procedures, and data to transition products from R&D to production
- Serve as the Control Engineering SME and collaborate with senior staff and leadership to resolve interdisciplinary technical problems
Education
- BS in Mechanical, Electrical, Controls Engineering, or related field (required)
- MS or PhD in a related field (preferred)
