Responsibilities
- Own hardware projects from concept generation through prototype, test, and production handoff.
- Design and develop cutting-edge infrared and electro-optical sensor systems.
- Perform rigorous opto-mechanical and electro-mechanical design and system-level architecture trades.
- Create high-quality CAD models and industry-standard engineering drawings.
- Build prototypes, run failure analyses, and iterate designs based on test data.
- Integrate electronics (motors, controllers, sensors) into mechanical assemblies.
- Support customer demonstrations and travel to test sites as needed.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (optics, electronics, software, manufacturing) to drive DFMA and producibility.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (required)
- Master's or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related field (preferred)
