Senior Manager - Program Management, Change & Engagement - job 1 of 3

At American Express, our culture is built on a 175-year history of innovation, shared values and Leadership Behaviors, and an unwavering commitment to back our customers, communities, and colleagues. As part of Team Amex, you'll experience this powerful backing with comprehensive support for your holistic well-being and many opportunities to learn new skills, develop as a leader, and grow your career.

Here, your voice and ideas matter, your work makes an impact, and together, you will help us define the future of American Express.

Are you passionate about leading change and inspiring teams to embrace new ways of working? We are seeking a dynamic Senior Manager to join the Value Co-Creation (VCC) Enterprise Program Team. In this role, you’ll be at the forefront of enterprise transformation - driving engagement, fostering alignment, and enabling adoption of new operating models across the American Express product development lifecycle.

You’ll serve as a key connector across business, product, and technology teams, helping to shape how we plan, collaborate, and deliver value. This is a highly visible role that blends strategic thinking with hands-on change leadership.

The Program Manager will be a member of the VCC Enterprise Program Team (EPT), which operates cross-functionally to lead the overall transformation, including the design and delivery of change management, education, and communications to ensure successful adoption of the new ways of working. Key to the overall program’s success will be the partnerships formed across Technology, Business and Product leaders, as well as portfolio and planning teams, engaging them in the design and implementation of new processes and techniques.

What You’ll Do

The Program Manager will be an instrumental thought partner in strategic change management, enabling adoption of new ways of working. Specifically, this colleague will:

  • Design and execute enterprise-wide engagement strategies that build awareness, drive adoption, and sustain behavior change across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Partner with colleagues to create communication plans and feedback loops that support transformation goals.
  • Develop and facilitate content-rich experiences including awareness sessions, town halls, and community of practices that promote new ways of working.
  • Create and curate enablement materials such as job aids, intranet sites, branded decks, and learning content that support team readiness and reinforce consistent messaging across transformation initiatives.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and visible change champion, providing guidance, answering questions, and supporting leaders and teams as they navigate new ways of working.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in change management, program management, and/or enterprise transformation.
  • Experience designing and delivering change enablement strategies in large, matrixed organizations.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills, with a knack for simplifying complex ideas and ability to clearly communicate messages to a variety of audiences across functions and levels.
  • Interpersonal and influencing skills with the ability to build cross-functional relationships.
  • Proficiency in SharePoint and Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Bachelor’s degree.

Differentiators

  • Background in management consulting or strategic planning.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies, and product development lifecycles.
  • Experience working with C-suite or executive-level stakeholders.
  • Self-starter and loves working in a lean, fast-paced, environment with the ability to pivot quickly and navigate ambiguity, forming solutions out of white space,
  • MBA or advanced degree.
  • PROSCI or related Certification
