Senior Counsel, Ethics & Employment

Affirm is a public fintech company reinventing credit to be honest and consumer-friendly. We are seeking a thoughtful, collaborative employment attorney to join the Employment Legal and Ethics team in a dual-hatted Senior Counsel role, responsible for running the day-to-day ethics program and conducting investigations while also advising business partners on US employment legal matters.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Affirm’s whistleblower hotline and vendor relationships, and prepare regular reports on hotline activity
  • Conduct timely, fair, and professional ethics investigations and produce clear investigative reports and findings
  • Oversee and update the Code of Ethics and Business Conduct; draft and review related policies and translations
  • Respond to ethics inquiries on conflicts of interest, gifts and entertainment, and related employee questions
  • Design and launch ethics training, communications, and build an ethics resource library
  • Provide day-to-day employment law advice on accommodations, leaves, performance, separations, payroll tax, and benefits
  • Draft and review employment agreements, policies, and internal/external communications
  • Manage pre-litigation matters, administrative claims, audits, and coordinate outside counsel as needed
  • Monitor legal developments and create reference guides or frameworks for cross-functional partners
  • Partner with stakeholders to influence outcomes and support special projects across jurisdictions

Education

  • J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school
  • Licensed and in good standing to practice law in a U.S. state (e.g., CA, NY, WA, TX)
  • Bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
