Job Description

AECOM is hosting an exclusive, invitation-only hiring event in Philadelphia on October 9-10, 2025. This is a great opportunity to learn and connect with AECOM for career opportunities starting Spring/Summer 2026.

The event kicks off on Thursday evening with a networking mixer from 6-8 pm, where you can hear from AECOM staff about various projects, career paths, and the company itself. You’ll also have the chance to meet other students, recent graduates, and AECOM professionals from across our business lines.

On Friday, interviews will take place at our Philadelphia office. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about and connect with AECOM for early career opportunities.

 

The Civil Engineering Department of AECOM’s Transportation Business Line is actively seeking Civil Engineer for our Philadelphia, PA office. Under the supervision of a Project Engineer, the appropriately qualified applicant will be part of a Design Team responsible for the design of small to large-scale Highway Improvement Projects such as roadway rehabilitation/safety improvement projects (3R), intersection improvements/optimizations, interstate/limited access highway widening/reconstruction.  Design responsibilities include horizontal/vertical geometry, pavement design, 3D modeling, intersections/interchanges design, traffic control/staging, signing and pavement markings design, ADA, Pedestrian and Bicycle design etc.

This position is expected to begin in Spring/Summer 2026.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Obtaining and reviewing of existing information including some field work/site investigations.
  • Originating technical calculations that advance the design of the project. 
  • Assisting in the development of roadway construction, intersection grading, traffic control and signing and pavement marking.
  • Developing 3D models using civil engineering software such as Bentley OpenRoads Designer or Autodesk Civil 3D.  
  • Assisting in the preparation of technical reports and project specifications
  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Passed Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam, or ability to take within 6-12 months of employment.
  • Some experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, and other civil engineering-related software (Civil 3D, OpenRoads).
  • Previous work experience or internship with engineering firms, contractors, or DOTs involved in the design, construction, or management of highway or other transportation-related projects.

Additional Information

  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
  • We are interested in every qualified candidate eligible to work in the United States.  Permanent residency sponsorship is available for current H1-B visa holders in the United States.
  • This position requires a hybrid work schedule which includes in-office work in Philadelphia, PA. The selected candidate must be available to work in Philadelphia, PA on a scheduled basis.
