Mechanical Engineer II

Voyager Technologies is a defense, national security and space technology company developing mission-critical systems from ground to space. The Mechanical Engineer II will contribute to design, analysis, testing and manufacturing activities for electromechanical actuators, solid rocket motor systems, hot gas valves, and related subsystems while collaborating across multidisciplinary teams to deliver reliable, producible hardware.

Skills

  • Proficiency in CAD and producing detailed engineering drawings with GD&T
  • Experience with CFD and FEA tools for structural, thermal and dynamic analysis
  • Hands-on testing experience: instrumentation, data acquisition, calibration and statistical analysis
  • Knowledge of materials including composites, ceramics, refractory metals and selection trade-offs
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes: machining, composites layup, molding/casting and welding
  • Understanding of propulsion fundamentals, solid rocket motor performance and ballistics
  • Strong written and verbal communication, presentation and technical report writing skills
  • Systems engineering fundamentals: requirements, mass budgeting and risk assessment
  • U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain/maintain required security clearances

Responsibilities

  • Design electromechanical actuators, igniters, pressure vessels, hot gas valves, thrusters and solid rocket motor components considering trade-offs and material selection
  • Create detailed 2D/3D CAD models and engineering drawings using GD&T and produce manufacturing-ready documentation
  • Perform CFD, structural, thermal and dynamic analyses; interpret results and apply engineering judgment
  • Plan and execute assembly and test activities, collect and analyze test data, and prepare test reports
  • Support manufacturing planning, composite processing, machining, molding/casting and basic welding activities
  • Participate in systems engineering tasks including mass budgeting, requirements development, risk identification and mitigation
  • Contribute to ballistic and propellant chemistry discussions and assist in motor performance evaluation
  • Communicate technical findings through written reports, presentations and cross-functional discussions
  • Support avionics integration tasks such as harnesses, ignition systems and basic PCB/circuit considerations
  • Assist with procurement, proposal support and basic project scheduling as needed

Education

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related engineering discipline from an accredited university (required)
  • Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of degree
