Skills
- Proficient Python programming, API integration, and error handling
- CAD design and rapid prototyping experience including 3D printing
- Hands-on hardware experience: electrical wiring, sensors, fluid plumbing, PID controllers
- Experience programming and training robotic systems (e.g., pick-and-place)
- Familiarity with vacuum, laser, furnace, and electrochemical experimental systems
- Knowledge of machine vision and robotics control algorithms
- Ability to create robust SOPs, documentation, and perform FMEA
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and implement automated laboratory workflows for synthesis and characterization
- Collaborate with hardware, controls, and software teams to integrate instruments across the software stack
- Develop scalable, modular SOPs, documentation, and runbooks for automated processes
- Perform equipment and system FMEA(s) and implement failure detection and mitigation
- Troubleshoot, optimize, and maintain automated systems to maximize throughput and reliability
- Prototype mechanical and electrical solutions (CAD, 3D printing, wiring, plumbing, sensors)
- Evaluate and integrate robotics, machine vision, and advanced sensors into workflows
- Translate scientific goals into automation requirements and ensure safety and quality alignment
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Engineering, or related field required
- Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in a related field preferred
