Principal Senior Software Engineer
Skills
- Proficiency in multiple languages: Java, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript
- Experience with frameworks: Spring Boot, React, Next.js
- Modern architectures: microservices and event-driven architectures
- Containerization and orchestration: Docker and Kubernetes
- Streaming technologies: Kafka (or equivalent)
- Relational and NoSQL database experience with data modeling and performance tuning
- Cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, GCP and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
- Knowledge of FISMA, FedRAMP, NIST standards and federal security/privacy requirements
- Integration with enterprise IAM, PKI, and multi-factor authentication solutions
- Proven project delivery and stakeholder management skills
Responsibilities
- Manage the software engineering process and review system specifications, interfaces, and requirements
- Prepare programming specifications, design plans, unit/test scripts, and documentation
- Analyze existing systems for reusability and required changes
- Architect, develop, and implement complex, secure, and compliant software solutions
- Lead and mentor software development teams and junior engineers
- Collaborate with product managers, UX designers, systems engineers, and DevSecOps
- Provide strategic technical guidance, evaluate emerging technologies, and drive process improvements
- Ensure designs meet federal security/privacy requirements and operational readiness
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline OR Associate degree + 4 years relevant experience OR 8 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree
- Subject to security investigation/background check; eligibility for access to classified information may be required
