This is a remote, regional position that is required to reside in the Twin Cities metro area. This position plans, develops, coordinates, manages, and executes the recruitment and admissions process in alignment with the institution's strategic goals focusing on the Twin Cities. This role also represents the institution to prospective students with a goal of attracting, admitting, and enrolling a talented, diverse student body. May supervise staff and/or lead a program area.

  • Evaluates program effectiveness and provides recommendations for improvement
  • Identifies, promotes, and maintains internal and external partnerships focusing on outreach, recruitment, and admission
  • Schedules logistics and secures resources for events to promote the Institution
  • Identifies opportunities for and develops admissions and outreach events
  • Reviews, evaluates, and responds to student applications according to established policies and procedures
  • May supervise staff and/or lead a program area
  • Delivers directed admissions program messaging to internal and external audiences
  • Engages in extensive outreach and recruitment events, representing the university to prospective students

UW Standard Job Responsibilities:

  • Counsels prospective and admitted students on educational planning and career opportunities.
  • Reviews, evaluates, and responds to student applications according to established policies and procedures.
  • Identifies opportunities for and develops admissions and outreach events.
  • Schedules logistics and secures resources for events to promote the Institution.
  • Evaluates program effectiveness and provides recommendations for improvement.
  • Creates targeted communication plans and materials based on established goals.
  • Delivers directed admissions program messaging to internal and external audiences.
  • Identifies, promotes, and maintains internal and external partnerships focusing on outreach, recruitment, and admission.
  • Engages in extensive outreach and recruitment events, representing the university to prospective students.
  • May supervise staff and/or lead a program area.

Additional duties specific to the position:

  • Assists in the development of a recruitment plan and goals for their individual territory that integrates with the overall recruitment plan of the university.
  • Independently execute semester-based travel plans consisting of pre-scheduled fairs, high school visits, presentations, and financial aid nights while balancing application and inquiry follow-up and outreach
  • Advise prospective students and their families regarding admission requirements, academic programs, financial aid and scholarships, residence halls, student organizations and activities.
  • Respond to and initiate contact with prospective students through written, phone, email and in-person; meet with visiting students and their families; track all prospective student contact in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database.
  • Collaborate and work closely with other admissions counselors to ensure a productive team environment.
  • Join and participate in regional admission school counselor association events to build solid working relationships.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of on-campus events and programs, off-site events and programs, and virtual programs.
  • Assist with meeting enrollment, recruitment and student service objectives of the university by performing other essential duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work effectively with K-12 partners, prospective students and their families, transfer students, and online students.
  • Knowledge of at least one of the following areas: admissions, financial aid, recruiting, international recruitment, advising or counseling and/or teaching
  • Knowledge and understanding of higher education and the value of a public liberal arts education.
  • Skill in strong cross-cultural interpersonal and writing skills, including public speaking skills and the ability to present the University of Wisconsin-Superior in a positive way to diverse populations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across cultural boundaries and with diverse groups of students, families and partners, strong public presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage a variety of tasks and organize a variety of on and off-campus events.
  • Ability to exhibit a high level of initiative and motivation.
  • Ability to travel, load and transport admission materials, displays and other equipment.
  • Ability to work and be productive in a team environment.
  • Ability to work evening and weekend hours occasionally.
  • Ability to represent the admissions office positively through a strong, student-centered ethic.
  • Ability to drive a vehicle for the purpose of conducting university business and meet the criteria for operation of state-owned-vehicles – Policy 615

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Valid driver’s license

This position is currently ineligible for H1-B sponsorship. A qualification for this position includes independent eligibility to work within the United States upon hire date.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a student services office within a college/university.
  • Knowledge of student databases/information systems and/or communication management systems (CRMs)
  • Familiarity with the Universities of Wisconsin System

Compensation & Benefits: Salary range for this position is: $44,000 - $50,000 annually. This position offers a comprehensive benefits package, including generous paid time off, competitively priced health/dental/vision/life insurance, tax-advantaged savings accounts, and participation in the nationally recognized Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS) pension fund.
