Our engineering teams build the next generation of platforms and applications that power Walmart’s global retail ecosystem. We focus on distributed systems, event-driven architectures, cloud-native services, and automation — all designed to operate at the largest scale in retail.
Lead the architecture and development of distributed systems, microservices, and APIs using Python and related frameworks.
Partner with product, architecture, and operations teams to define solutions that align with Walmart’s technical strategy and business goals.
Mentor and guide engineers across teams, setting best practices in design, coding standards, testing, and performance tuning.
Drive automation, observability, and monitoring practices to improve reliability and speed to market.
Contribute to roadmap planning, technical design reviews, and proof-of-concept initiatives.
Collaborate across geographies and time zones in a highly matrixed organization.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field and 8+ years of software engineering experience (or equivalent work experience).
Expert-level proficiency in Python, with a strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and system design.
Experience building and scaling distributed systems, APIs, and microservices.
Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (GCP, Azure, or AWS) and Kubernetes/Docker.
Knowledge of CI/CD practices, automated testing, and modern DevOps tooling.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Experience with event-driven architecture and streaming platforms (Kafka, Pulsar, RabbitMQ).
Background in retail, e-commerce, or large-scale customer-facing platforms.
Contributions to open-source projects or engineering communities.

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00-$220,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
