Buyer (Vortex Companies - Salina, KS)

Vortex Companies is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Buyer to join our dynamic procurement team. In this role, you will be responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and negotiating with suppliers to ensure that our production needs are met efficiently and economically. This is a pivotal position that will directly impact our operational success and requires a strategic mindset as well as strong analytical skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct thorough research to identify potential suppliers and evaluate their capabilities, pricing, and quality.
• Negotiate contracts and pricing with vendors to secure favorable terms and ensure timely procurement of materials.
• Collaborate with internal departments to understand their purchasing needs and establish clear specifications for orders.
• Monitor inventory levels and assess future purchasing requirements, ensuring continuity of supply without excess inventory.
• Analyze market trends and pricing to forecast demand and adjust purchasing strategies accordingly.
• Maintain comprehensive records of purchases, pricing, and contracts, ensuring compliance with company policies.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and stakeholders to support operational needs and resolve issues promptly.
• Lead efforts in cost reduction and process improvements within the procurement function.

What We’re Looking For:

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management.
• Proven negotiation skills and experience managing supplier relationships.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and market trends.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and purchasing software.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of industry standards and best practices in procurement is a plus.
