Responsibilities
- Provide basic to advanced nursing care, patient monitoring, and treatments for emergency and inpatient patients
- Triage incoming patients using clinical assessment and monitoring parameters
- Administer subcutaneous, intramuscular, and intravenous medications and monitor for adverse effects
- Set up, monitor, and manage intravenous fluid therapy, CRIs, and blood transfusions
- Administer and monitor anesthesia, including support for mechanically ventilated patients
- Perform advanced vascular access (jugular, central, intraosseous, arterial) and advanced diagnostics
- Collect samples, run point-of-care tests, and assist with diagnostic imaging
- Perform CPR as a RECOVER Certified Rescuer (training provided)
- Coach and guide veterinary assistants and peers, participate in patient rounds and care coordination
- Troubleshoot oxygen administration systems and maintain respiratory support equipment
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Credentialed veterinary technician licensure (CVT, RVT, LVT, or LVMT) valid in the practice location
