Emergency Credentialed Veterinary Technician - Princeton, NJ

VEG is seeking a credentialed Emergency Veterinary Technician in Princeton, NJ who is motivated, team-oriented, and committed to patient-centered emergency care while pursuing growth and advanced clinical skills.

Skills

  • Credentialed veterinary technician (CVT/RVT/LVT/LVMT) in practice location
  • Proficiency with IV catheter placement, fluid therapy, and blood transfusion procedures
  • Anesthesia monitoring and perioperative nursing skills
  • Experience with emergency diagnostics, sample collection, and point-of-care testing
  • Basic computer skills for practice management and electronic medical records
  • Strong written and verbal communication with peers and clients
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks (standing long periods, lifting up to 25 kg independently)

Responsibilities

  • Perform triage, basic to intermediate nursing care, patient monitoring, and treatments for emergency patients
  • Administer and monitor subcutaneous, intramuscular, and intravenous medications and fluid therapy, including CRIs and blood transfusions
  • Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot oxygen therapy and other respiratory support devices
  • Assist with and monitor patients under general anesthesia, including advanced airway and ventilation support
  • Perform advanced vascular access (jugular, intraosseous, arterial) and sample collection for diagnostics
  • Collect and run in-house diagnostic tests and assist with diagnostic imaging
  • Participate in patient rounds and coordinate continuity of care with the veterinary team
  • Provide CPR and emergency resuscitation as a trained rescuer and follow RECOVER protocols
  • Coach and guide veterinary assistants, contribute to workload management, and support team training

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Credentialed as a veterinary technician (CVT, RVT, LVT, LVMT) in the state of practice
  • Continuing education and certification opportunities supported (VTS pathways preferred)
