- Active veterinary technician credential in practice state (CVT/RVT/LVT/LVMT)
- Proficient in patient triage, monitoring, and emergency nursing procedures
- Experience with IV fluid therapy, CRIs, and blood transfusion monitoring
- Anesthesia monitoring and basic ventilatory support experience
- Ability to perform diagnostic sample collection and run point-of-care tests
- Strong written, verbal, and electronic communication skills
- Comfortable with hands-on patient care, physical tasks, and prolonged standing
Responsibilities
- Deliver basic to intermediate nursing care, patient monitoring, and treatments for emergency patients
- Triage incoming patients using assessment and monitoring parameters
- Administer SC, IM, and IV medications and monitor for adverse effects
- Set up, monitor, and maintain IV fluid therapy, CRIs, and blood transfusions
- Perform diagnostic sample collection, in-house testing, and diagnostic imaging assistance
- Manage anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery for varied-risk patients
- Perform advanced vascular access (jugular, intraosseous, arterial) and assist with central lines
- Place and maintain urinary catheters, feeding tubes, oxygen devices, and chest/abdominal tubes
- Participate in patient rounds and coordinate continuity of care
- Coach and guide assistants and peers; support workload management to ensure uncompromised care
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Credentialed veterinary technician (CVT, RVT, LVT, LVMT) in Pennsylvania or applicable state
- Basic computer literacy for practice management and EMR systems
