Seeking a Veterinary Technician Supervisor!

Do you want to love your career and cultivate that same passion in others? VCA Rotherwood Animal Hospital is seeking a talented Credentialed Veterinary Technician, or experienced Veterinary Assistant to join and lead as a Technician Supervisor full time.

VCA Rotherwood Animal Hospital has been fortunate to work with pets and their people in the Newton community, for more than 45 years. This longevity has allowed us to develop lasting client relationships that span generations, of people and pets both!

We are a three doctor, small animal practice that believes in the importance of dedicated client and patient care. We have a strong focus on preventative medicine, and strive to collaborate with pet parents to improve medical outcomes for our patients. Compensation: $28 - $41.52 / hr based on skill set and experience.

As a member of the VCA team, you will support the entire team by creating a positive, low-stress atmosphere for our clients and patients. You’ve worked hard for your credentials (CVT, RVT, LVT) and we want you to use the knowledge that you’ve invested your time and talent in. The skills that you will be utilizing include, but are not limited to:

• Physical examinations and patient assessment
• Client communication and education
• Anesthesia monitoring
• Surgical preparation and assisting
• Dentistry

• Laboratory work
• Venipuncture
• Catheter placement
• Pharmacy
• Patient recovery

In the supervisor role, your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

• Directing work flow on the floor
• Assist in the educational development of technicians and their skills
• Help with the interview process for potential new hires
• Technician scheduling
• Assist in staffing and coverage where needed
• Assist in basic protocol and standard procedure training
• Provide opportunities for staff to gain more firsthand experience
• Mentoring technicians within the department
• Working with department doctors to develop protocols to improve the service
• Ensure that VCA policies, guidelines, and recommendations are implemented by all members of the technical staff

This position is a working supervisory position, which is responsible for the leadership and the supervision of our technical staff.
