Counseling and Mental Health Center (CMHC) is an accredited on-campus mental health facility dedicated to supporting the well-being of UT Austin students. CMHC offers a range of services, including assessment and referral, group and individual counseling, psychiatry and well-being services.

Respond to mental health crises among UT students, faculty, and staff by providing assessment, intervention, triage, case management, and referrals. Conduct clinical assessments on-site as needed, support individuals through hospitalizations or legal processes, and offer educational resources. Lead a team of clinicians who provide above services.
Lead a team of counselors responsible for responding to mental health crises among UT students, faculty, and staff by providing assessment, intervention, triage, case management, and referrals. Act as a liaison with university departments such as University of Texas Police Department (UTPD), Student Outreach and Support Services (SOS), Employee Assistance Program (EAP), Title IX, Residence Life, and others.
Reviews client record to determine the progress, effectiveness, and appropriateness of treatment services offered. Maintains current, accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with state and federal law, professional ethics, and Counseling and Mental Health Center, CMHC, policies. Coordinates referrals between CMHC and university or community service providers.
Provide outreach to reduce stigma, participate in relevant meetings and multidisciplinary teams, and maintain accurate clinical documentation in compliance with laws and policies.
Manage and asses M-HART program.
Develop, maintain, and review policies and procedures and other written materials to reflect current practice.
Identify and define system issues while developing and implementing effective solutions.
Analyze data and provide insights into that data for clinical operations/decision making.
Assess and evaluate program effectiveness.
Other required activities
Attend and participate in departmental and division meetings and staff development programs as assigned.
Participate in multidisciplinary clinical and administrative teams and maintain liaison relationships with university departments and organizations.
Comply with all CMHC and UT policies, procedures, and guidelines.
The ability to be on-call in rotation with others to support the campus 24/7.
Provide clinical training and supervision to social work and psychology interns, as well as pre-doctoral psychology practicum students. [marginal duties]
Provides individual supervision of interns, practicum students, or psychiatric residents.
Provides individual supervision of group co-leaders.
Supervises interns' supervision of practicum students.
Co-leads training seminars.
Offers and supervises preceptorships and apprenticeships for interns.
Participates on training-related committees.
Participates in training activities during the orientation period.
Timely signature on clinical documentation and communication with supervisor of relevant issues.
May be assigned other relevant duties as applicable
Professional Counseling:
Master’s Degree in Counseling, Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or Social Work or other degree which meets eligibility requirement in Texas for licensure; and licensed as a Professional Counselor or the equivalent from another state; must be able to obtain licensure in Texas within one year if licensed in another state.
Social Work:
Master’s Degree in Counseling, Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or Social Work or other degree which meets eligibility requirement in Texas for licensure; and licensed as a Clinical Social Worker or the equivalent from another state; must be able to obtain licensure in Texas within one year if licensed in another state.
Psychology:
Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology or other degree acceptable to the Texas Board of Examiners of Psychology. Licensed as a Psychologist or the equivalent from another state; must be able to obtain licensure in Texas within one year if licensed in another state.
One year, full-time equivalent, post-doctoral clinical experience in college or university counseling center or other relevant clinical setting.
Currently licensed to practice in Texas as a Psychologist, Professional Counselor or Clinical Social Worker. If licensed to practice in another state, must be able to obtain license in Texas within 12 months of date of hire.
Demonstrated experience in providing crisis intervention, risk assessment, care coordination, and case management
Experience managing clinical staff and providing clinical and administrative consultation at a college/university counseling center, outpatient mental health setting and/or health care setting
Experience working with and/or collaborating with law enforcement officers/agencies
Experience synthesizing, analyzing and using data in decision making for clinical operations
Experience in program evaluation and assessment
Experience maintaining and developing policies and procedures that reflect clinical practice
Knowledge of research and trends related to effective models of outpatient mental health delivery that can be applied to higher education
Experience providing culturally competent treatment to a varied population
Demonstrated organizational, administrative, listening and problem solving skills
Ability to exercise resourcefulness and good judgment in a fast-paced environment
Excellent verbal and communication skills
Demonstrated experience working closely with varied stakeholders, internal and external partners
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Experience doing mobile crisis work and collaborating with law enforcement officers in response to mental health crises
Experience working as a director/manager for clinical services or equivalent at a college/university counseling center, outpatient mental health setting and/or health care setting
Three years of experience managing clinical staff
Five years of post-licensure experience providing brief individual therapy, crisis intervention, care coordination and case management
Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including disciplines of primary care and various mental health professionals.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with campus personnel, such as professionals in academic affairs and other student services providers
Experience in developing and implementing outreach programs
Demonstrated ability to work within a large system, and to participate and collaborate effectively in a large agency
Social Work / Professional Counselor - $82,860 + depending on qualifications and license
Psychology - $95,400 + depending on qualifications and license
The ability to be on-call in rotation with others to support the campus 24/7.

Exposure to chemicals and commercial items typically found in office, medical clinics, and building repairs/maintenance.
