Purpose

To comprehensively support the Polymathic Scholars honors program in administrative, advising and teaching capacities; and to advance our core mission of fostering wellness, belonging, and success for all students.

Responsibilities

  • Advise Polymaths pursuing the Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Science and Arts Honors degree. Assist with summer orientation planning for incoming students. Track student progress and communicate with CNS Records.
  • Design and teach up to four writing and academic field invention seminars per year, serve as co-instructor of first-year seminars, and evaluate the effectiveness of these courses.
  • Develop, implement and evaluate protocols for student proposals, assist with thesis evaluation, collaborate on development of program goals and support faculty director and CNS Honors director.
  • Maintain database, internal records and website. Perform related duties and special projects as assigned. Attend professional development seminars.
  • Market Polymathic Scholars to undergraduates, faculty, staff, and high school students.
  • Recruit and evaluate students for admission to CNS Honors programs and support CNS Honors functions.
  • Other duties as assigned, including supporting special projects and staffing events within CNS.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree with at least five years of experience being responsible for program administration or program coordination. High school or university level teaching experience.Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to rapidly task-switch. Must be student-centered and have the ability to connect with students from different backgrounds. Ability to build strong working relationships with different stakeholders. Detail oriented, organized, ability to adapt complex information for intended audiences. If hired, further documentation and accreditation must be obtained for teaching role.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Extensive experience teaching writing, especially science writing. Five or more years of experience leading student programming. Experience working with STEM student populations. Familiarity with UT Advising technology and policy. More than the required education and experience.

Salary Range

$50,000 + depending on qualifications

Employment Eligibility:

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
