Purpose

Assist the Freeman Lab with a joint research project between M-WET & LNBL

Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory research on synthesis and characterization of polymers and polymer-based membranes, with particular emphasis on the fundamentals of transport of small molecules in polymers, which are relevant to applications, including gas separation membranes, liquid separation membranes, water purification, barrier packaging, etc.

  • Analyze and interpret data related to membrane properties, transport, and structural characterization.

  • Present results in group meetings, to collaborators, at relevant workshops, etc.

  • Work collaboratively with scientists from different backgrounds

  • Contribute to proposal and manuscript preparation related to the research.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related scientific field.

  • Experience with polymers and polymer-based membranes

  • Experience presenting research data in a professional setting

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience researching the effect of polymer structure on the solubility, diffusivity, and permeability of small molecules in polymers and polymer-based materials .

  • Experience working in laboratory and in a multi-disciplinary team

  • A record of contributing to to peer reviewed published research

Salary Range

$35,568.00 + depending on qualifications
