Purpose

The Complex Coordinator is a full-time, live-on supervisory staff member within University Housing and Dining (UHD), who manages one or more of our apartment or residence hall complexes. Responsible for all community/complex operations and providing a comprehensive academic program of leadership and management for housing students.

Responsibilities

  • Supervision: May directly supervise Community/Resident Assistants, hourly Desk Assistants, Graduate Assistant, and/or full-time Administrative/Associate Assistant during the academic year. Develops, trains, and evaluates staff. Participates in staff selection, training, and personal/professional growth opportunities. Has consistent contact with staff throughout the residential community and maintains departmental visibility. During the summer, may supervise student staff and professional staff members due to the needs of Conference Services. 

  • Leadership and Administration: Chairs and/or serves on various UHD committees, task forces, and work groups. Actively participates in professional and student staff selection, training, development activities, and other departmental functions. Completes collateral and/or administrative assignments for departmental and campus partners such as Fire Life Safety (FLS) inspections, opening/closing tasks, billing, budgets, and reports. Represents Residence Life in various committees and at university functions. Participates in professional development opportunities which can include association with university or professional organizations. Provides leadership and direction for special tasks, and other duties as needed or as assigned by supervisor and/or other members of the residence life leadership team. Responsible for the support and direction of summer conferences and/or housing operations. Adheres to the policies set by the Youth Protection Program.

  • Student Development: May advise residence hall/community councils which may include the National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH), Residence Assistant Association (RAA), Residence Hall Council (RHC), University Residence Hall Association (URHA), and/or Tenant Advisory Board (TAB). Supports and collaborates with campus partners for academic and community development initiatives. May support department Living Learning Communities (LLCs). Works collaboratively with other Complex Coordinators to review and implement lesson plans in alignment with the UHD residential curriculum. Provides leadership and direction for the development of interpersonal relationships with and among students in residential communities to ensure a safe, secure, healthy living and learning environment.

  • Conduct and Crisis: Holds educational conduct conferences for UHD policy infractions, institutional rules violations, and other behavioral concerns. May act as a representative of the Dean of Students office to hear conduct cases. Works with UHD and Emergency Support staff to prevent and respond to incidents of policy violations. Works with the Maxient judicial database and related student records. Serves on an on-call duty rotation, throughout the year including holidays and university closure. 

  • Collaboration and Service: Develops and maintains relationships with internal and external partners such as Dining, Occupancy Management, Facilities, Student Emergency Services (SES), Student Conduct and Academic Integrity (SCAI), and others. Responsible for coordinating with Building Services and Facilities teams the maintenance and improvement needs of the residential facilities. Serves as a customer service representative and reference for students and visitors. Participates in UHD, campus-wide, regional and national initiatives, interview opportunities, projects, conferences, and committees. Drives UT Vehicle as needed to assist with various residential needs. Other related functions as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • Experience in a supervisory capacity, an administration position, or teaching.

  • Must be a team player with extensive experience in customer service. 

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree.

  • Two or more years of graduate/part-time or full-time experience in a residence hall setting.

  • Experience in university residence management and supervision of student development personnel.

  • Experience with camps or conference management.

  • Experience in higher education.

  • Experience with assessment.

  • Experience working in a large, public University setting (student population of 15,000 or more).

  • Experience working with residential curricula.

  • Experience in student advising/mentoring and conflict resolution as well as the ability to work collaboratively.

  • Experience planning workshops for staff development/training.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with professional staff across work groups to complete objectives.

  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written, and professional demeanor.

  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office.

  • Ability to multi-task and analyze processes and policies.

  • Ability to train and lead staff.

Driving Required

This job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Employees who are required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing (pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, random, return-to-duty, and follow-up drug and alcohol testing).

Salary Range

$50,000+ depending on qualifications

Working Conditions

  • The Complex Coordinator position is required to live on-campus in an on-campus staff apartment.

  • Typical office environment.

Work Shift

  • Monday - Friday, 9:00AM -5:00PM. Other office time will be scheduled and may include evening, weekend, and holiday work, emergency response, rotating on-call responsibilities, and additional hours for events and meetings.
