Summary of Job Duties:

The 12-month tenure-track Assistant Professor of Occupational Therapy will teach graduate courses in the Occupational Therapy Doctoral program’s integrated curriculum; conduct research that results in refereed publications and professional presentations; direct students’ independent research and capstone projects, advise graduate students, chair/serve on doctoral committees; participate in public/professional service; and engage in service activities at the program, department, college, and university levels. Additionally, this position may help to establish a research-centered practice for the purpose of serving members of the community, training students, and collaborating with other disciplines. Travel may be required for this position. Occupational Therapy faculty members are expected to be engaged stewards of the profession who are committed to fostering innovative, collaborative, occupation-centered learning environments for their students and colleagues.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Post-professional doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy or related field from a nationally recognized and accredited institution conferred by the time of appointment

  • Demonstrated ability to teach multiple courses in the occupational therapy program.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and sustain a research agenda that supports the department’s mission and vision while leading to peer-reviewed publications

  • For candidates who are occupational therapists, eligibility for an occupational therapist license in the state of Arkansas (licensure must be obtained by the time of appointment)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least two years of clinical practice experience

  • Ability to articulate an understanding of the relationship between own area of education/training and occupational therapy

  • Occupational Therapist (Registered and Licensed)

  • Demonstrate participation in collaborative work or scholarly projects leading to presentation and/or publication

  • Current or past grant-funded scholarship

  • Terminal research degree in occupational therapy or related field

  • At least three years of experience as a full-time graduate faculty with teaching responsibilities
