The Telecommunications Technician is responsible for maintaining the current system as well as helping to develop and implement new systems to support Badger Meter strategic business goals. You will be responsible for telecommunications systems including operation, documentation and support. You will advise departments regarding solutions and costs related to their telecommunications requests and have direct communication with telecommunication service providers.
Job Duties:
Administer the Genesys systems, voice messaging systems including voice extensions, subscriber mailboxes, backups, reports, and automatic call distribution (ACD) software.
Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade components/systems that support various telecommunications systems and applications and perform telecommunications related tasks (executing service moves, adds, changes, and disconnections (MACDs) and coordinating carriers and cabling providers in the repair and restoration of voice circuits).
Respond to and resolve telephone system and related problems reported by customers by troubleshooting entire communications systems to determine if problem is telephone hardware, software, inside cabling, or carrier circuits.
Manage and update the resources within the call management system, including call groups and routing.
Process vendor invoices, verify charges are accurate, and apply account coding, working with accounts payable to ensure all invoices are paid in a timely manner.
Support and oversee cellular resources, including service providers, accounts, and cellular hardware to best meet the needs of users.
Monitor telephone system performance to assure dependable and uninterrupted operations of telephone communications (performing or coordinating correction of telephone system alarm conditions and identifying and coordinating the replacement of malfunctioning or inoperative equipment).
Provide training to lower tier personnel and act as their escalation for support related issues and escalate persistent problems and poor vendor response for management visibility and additional resources to resolve issues.
Assist in developing implementation plans to upgrade communication systems, emergency plans to deal with catastrophic events, and specification/installation of telephone hardware.
Provide “after hours support” when necessary.
Education and Experience:
Associate's degree in information systems or related field preferred
3+ years of related experience in a call center or a related field desired
Qualifications:
Genesys experience required, certification desired
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook required
Intermediate proficiency in Zoom required
Knowledge of SIP, PRI, T1, TCP/IP, and Ethernet cabling preferred
