Technical Manager - Senior Software Engineer
Skills
- Minimum 10 years professional software engineering experience
- Proven leadership and people-management skills with experience mentoring engineers
- Experience with both agile and waterfall software development methodologies
- Designing and implementing solutions across cloud-native, microservices, mobile, web, and desktop platforms
- Proficiency in Java, Python, or similar object-oriented/functional languages
- Knowledge of commercial telecommunications networks (3G/4G/5G)
- Experience leading projects spanning RF, electronic warfare, cyber, networking, and systems engineering
- Strong organizational, communication, and stakeholder-management skills
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a US security clearance
- Willingness to travel approximately 15%
Responsibilities
- Manage, mentor, and grow a distributed team of software engineers and technical leads
- Lead multiple government R&D projects and subcontractors through full development lifecycles
- Apply agile and waterfall practices to ensure milestones and deliverables are completed on time and within budget
- Facilitate team resourcing, timecard approvals, hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management
- Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and provide career development opportunities
- Coordinate with program managers, solution architects, DevSecOps, QA, and other stakeholders
- Drive technical direction, design reviews, and cross-discipline integration for cloud-native, mobile, web, desktop, RF and networking solutions
- Oversee subcontractor integration and monitor contractual deliverables
- Support customer engagements and travel to meetings as required (~15%)
- Ensure team compliance with program requirements and support obtaining required security clearances
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field (required)
- Master's degree in a related field (preferred)
