Job Description

The Corporate Audit Services (CAS) Senior Audit Manager – Europe supports CAS senior leadership in providing various committees, boards, and senior management with independent assurance and advisory services designed to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance.  This position supports the European operations of U.S. Bancorp.

JOB FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work collaboratively with the CAS leadership based in Dublin to gain familiarity with and understand European internal audit activities and act as a bridge role between the European and U.S. Bank CAS teams ensuring that, where required, European internal audit work is effectively managed and carried on in the U.S. when the European working day is finished
  • Effectively oversee Information Technology (IT), Information Security (IS) and Resiliency services provided to U.S. Bank Europe.  Working collaboratively with U.S. based Digital, Technology and Operations (DTOS) colleagues, ensure adequate coverage of IT, IS and resiliency risks in USBE
  • Support CAS Senior Leadership, in particular the European Head of Internal Audit in developing an appropriate risk-based audit plan. This includes identifying auditable entities and assessing risk within the auditable entities; determining appropriate audit cycles and audit strategy; and determining necessary audit resources and estimated expenses associated with completion of a forward-looking audit plan
  • Perform continuous monitoring and enhanced continuous monitoring activities (working closely with senior management and risk management) and adjusting the audit plan when appropriate
  • Supervise audit staff in the completion of audit engagements ensuring the highest quality work delivered timely. Supervision includes planning audit engagements; assessing work performed by lead auditors; performing sufficient reviews to ensure work contains relevant facts to support audit scope and conclusions and adheres to internal audit policies and procedures; drafting audit reports which communicate audit opinions and audit issues in a timely, clear, and concise manner; and monitoring progress of audit engagements against plan and schedule and making necessary adjustments
  • Prepare and review board, committee, and other stakeholder reporting in both Europe and the U.S. for completeness, and accuracy of the most up-to-date information
  • Interact regularly with European and U.S. based business line and risk management leaders, regulators, and external subject matter experts
  • Collaborate across the three lines of defense regarding business processes, risks, and controls. Coordinate European audit activities by integrating with internal audit subject matter teams (primarily process auditable entity owners) to ensure appropriate coverage of European products/services and processes
  • In collaboration with other team leaders, manage the European team’s workload and assist other audit teams when resources are needed for areas of higher risk
  • Manage, motivate, and develop assigned personnel in accordance with U.S. Bank and USBE Human Resources and internal audit policies and procedures. These duties include active participation in recruiting activities; establishing and managing development plans for assigned personnel; and providing ongoing performance feedback, including annual performance evaluations for assigned personnel.
  • Performing other duties as requested by the European Head of Internal Audit and CAS Senior Leadership

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of applicable risk/audit/compliance experience
  • Proven leadership skills. Five or more years of managerial experience.
  • CIA, CPA, CISA or other relevant professional designation. Expert level of verbal and written communication, relationship building and negotiation skills.
  • Expert skill in managing challenging situations. Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Expert understanding of Institute of Internal Auditors’ Standards and the common definition of internal controls. Expert understanding of the business line’s operations, products/services, systems, and associated risks/controls.
  • Understanding of IT and Corporate Functions Risk Management and other multiple risk disciplines. Relevant Financial Service Industry and Technical knowledge including understanding of risk theory, control frameworks, applicable financial services industry trends, laws and regulations; and impact of government legislation and regulation on business
  • Knowledge of the European financial systems.

This role is hybrid. Team members who are in a hybrid role typically spend three days a week at a U.S. Bank location, while having flexibility on their work location for the other working days.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $149,515.00 - $175,900.00
