Trinity University seeks to add an entry-level investment professional to the Office of Investments. With a small, highly collaborative team, the Investment Analyst will play an integral role and be involved in all aspects of portfolio analysis, investment manager due diligence and manager monitoring efforts across the Long-Term Investment Pool (LTIP) and Operating Pool. The position offers broad, generalist exposure to all asset classes (public equity, hedge funds, private equity, venture capital, credit, directly held minerals, and fixed income), an opportunity to further develop investment expertise and the ability to add value in an intellectually demanding and collaborative environment. Although primarily responsible for supporting the supporting the investment function, the Investment Analyst may also contribute to middle- and back-office investment operation functions across the LTIP and Operating Pool. Successful candidates are entrepreneurial, analytical, highly attuned to detail and capable of working well autonomously. The Office of Investments would encourage and support the pursuit of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation as well as other professional credentials (CAIA, FRM, CIPM, etc.). The Investment Analyst position is budgeted for a summer-2026 start-date and expected to be a 2-year appointment, with the option of a 3rd year. The position is in-person based in San Antonio, Texas.
JOB DUTIES
Assist with manager due diligence process, using quantitative/statistical methods and advanced excel modelling skills to analyze current and prospective investments. Conduct deep and accurate fundamental bottoms-up analysis; build and update models for new investments and prospects. Execute a wide variety of performance, risk measurement and attribution analyses for marketable investments (public equity, hedge funds). Analyze private investment fund data based on vintage year, IRR and MOIC. Document manager due diligence process and contribute to investment memos with supervision and review.
Responsible for day-to-day portfolio analysis and investment monitoring across the both the LTIP and Operating Pool. Collect overall portfolio and general market characteristics, including exposures, performance, attribution, liquidity, cash flow, and key risks. Analyze and assist with regular reviews of investment managers, asset class attributes, risk management metrics; prepare reports and dashboards that highlight material changes and insights to the Investment Team. Participate in external manager and reference meetings and calls to contribute insightful questions and capture accurate notes.
Support the Investment Team on research projects, analytics, and other endowment office initiatives. Conduct special projects pertaining to the University and help in preparation and creation of Investment Committee materials.
Assist Operations Manager with quarterly and year-end requests associated with accounting, legal, tax, and internal or external auditors regarding Trinity capital relationships. Record and reconcile investment transactions and performance using various spreadsheets and software tools to ensure accurate and timely monthly performance reporting.
Keep up-to-date with macroeconomic news flows of financial markets, global economics, and endowment and foundation industry. Review current market data supplied by industry sources and respected publications.
Represent Trinity University and the investment program with the utmost integrity and professionalism. Communicate and collaborate effectively with other Trinity University staff and peers in multiple functions, including legal and endowment operations, among others, as needed. Serve as a respected ambassador for the organization at manager meetings, conferences, and industry events.

EDUCATION
Required:
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university with strong academic credentials and a well-rounded set of extra-curricular activities and experiences.
Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in quantitative or investment-related field
Progress toward CFA or CAIA designation
EXPERIENCE
Required:
0-2 years in investment management or related fields with a recognized and respected firm, i.e. an endowment, foundation, pension fund, family office, OCIO firm, consultant, investment management firm, or investment banking firm.
Preferred:
Institutional investment internship experience with an endowment, foundation, pension, or institutional family office a plus (experience underwriting private equity, venture capital, real asset, private credit and or opportunistic investment mandates that include distressed equity or credit, structured credit, or other alternative private market strategies)
