Employees at JBG SMITH have the opportunity to engage in a number of programs and initiatives designed to foster a sense of connection and belonging. From mentoring to employee led D&I communities, we are committed to creating an environment where everyone can succeed.
Some of the great programs and initiatives we offer include:
Mentorship Program – connects and develops leaders across functions, sectors, and disciplines, as well as gender, race & ethnicity identities, and other differences. Mentors are invited to coach, guide and support the professional development of a mentee. Mentees gain exposure to new ideas, skills, and ways of thinking, in addition to receiving advice and learning new ways to increase visibility within the organization.
Inclusion Community – works to collectively drive cultural and behavioral change in all areas and at all levels of our organization.
Women’s Initiative – leads efforts to promote the overall success and advancement of women in the workplace. The group is represented by a cross-functional team of individuals who focus on connecting women and achieving gender equity.
D&I Training & Awareness – mandatory D&I training and resources from strategic D&I organizations including Diversity Woman, Seramount, and Catalyst. We also focus on raising awareness through strategic communications, including our monthly D&I newsletter and leadership blog series.
Workforce Development Program – supports pipeline development and job readiness programs through the University of Maryland, Virginia Tech, Georgetown University, Project Destined, REAP (Real Estate Associate Program), SEO (Sponsors for Educational Opportunity), etc.
In 2020, women represented 38% of JBG SMITH total workforce and 41% of JBG SMITH’s Senior Leadership Team. More than half of our employees are diverse. Furthermore, in year one of our formal D&I strategy, over 70% of our employees have participated in D&I education, awareness, and engagement sessions.
