Vice President of Engineering

Location: Remote
Reports to: CEO

Role Overview

We are seeking a Vice President of Engineering to lead our growing engineering organization and define the technical strategy that powers Trashie’s Deals & Rewards platform. This leader will oversee product engineering, data platforms, and the application of machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) to drive personalized offers, optimize partner ROI, prevent fraud, and deliver an exceptional customer experience.

The VP of Engineering will be responsible for scaling a world-class engineering team, ensuring technical excellence, and partnering cross-functionally with product, growth, and business development leaders to deliver innovative, high-impact solutions that engage millions of users and unlock value for partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Platform Leadership: Own the technical vision and execution for Trashie’s Deals & Rewards platform — architecting and scaling the systems that power real-time offers, partner integrations, consumer engagement, and reward redemptions.

  • AI/ML Innovation: Lead teams applying machine learning and AI to personalize offers, optimize engagement, detect and prevent fraud, and deliver measurable ROI for partners and users.

  • Systems & Infrastructure: Build and scale secure, high-performance commerce systems — including transaction processing, API integrations, and a robust rewards ledger capable of supporting millions of users.

  • Cross-Functional Impact: Partner with Product, Growth, and Business Development teams to align technical execution with platform KPIs such as engagement, redemption rates, and partner outcomes.

  • Team Development: Recruit, develop, and retain world-class engineering talent; foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.

  • Executive Collaboration: Work closely with company leadership to translate strategic goals into technical priorities, manage resource allocation, and deliver outcomes that drive business growth.


Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive engineering leadership experience, including at least 5 years managing large engineering teams that deliver consumer-facing platforms.

  • Demonstrated success architecting and scaling high-volume commerce, loyalty, or rewards systems — including transaction processing, API integrations, and real-time personalization engines.

  • Experience leading teams applying machine learning and AI to consumer engagement, personalization, recommendation systems, and fraud detection.
    Strong background in software engineering, data engineering, and cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure).

  • Track record of aligning engineering with business outcomes — driving KPIs such as user engagement, redemption rates, and partner ROI.
    Proven ability to recruit, develop, and inspire world-class technical talent; experience managing globally distributed teams is a plus.

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders at the executive level.
