Overview of the role
The Conference and Awards Producer (US) plays a key role in growing and delivering The Drum’s expanding portfolio of events across the US, from small- and large-scale conferences to awards, retreats, brand activations, and client events.
Based in Miami, this role will lead the planning, production, and on-site management of The Drum’s US-based conferences, awards, and events, working closely with colleagues in the UK to ensure consistency, creativity, and operational excellence across all regions.
This role requires proven experience delivering large-scale, high-profile conferences, with full ownership of complex logistics, production, programming, and on-site execution.
This is a hybrid role combining remote planning and coordination with on-site delivery at event times. The role requires flexibility to work evenings and weekends during peak planning and live event periods.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on producer with a strategic mindset — someone who can balance the details of execution with the big-picture ambition of building The Drum’s presence in the US market.
This position offers the opportunity to shape The Drum’s US event strategy, collaborate with global teams, and be part of an innovative media brand that connects the world’s marketing community.
Key responsibilities
US Event Leadership
· Take ownership of end-to-end delivery of The Drum’s US-based awards, conferences, retreats and client events — including planning, logistics, production, and on-site execution.
· Lead the planning and execution of large-scale, multi-day conferences, managing complex programs, speaker logistics, content schedules, production run sheets, and attendee journeys.
· Develop strong relationships with local venues, suppliers, and production partners, ensuring all events meet The Drum’s creative and operational standards.
· Manage event timelines and budgets, to ensure smooth and financially successful delivery.
Global Collaboration
· Work closely with the UK events team on planning, creative direction, and alignment with The Drum’s global awards and festival calendar.
· Support international activations, such as Cannes Lions, Advertising Week, and SXSW, coordinating on-site brand experiences and content sessions.
· Contribute to global post-event reporting, sharing insights and recommendations to continuously improve performance.
Commercial & Client Focus
· Collaborate with commercial, marketing, and partnerships teams to deliver sponsor and client activations, ensuring all contractual elements are fulfilled.
· Support ticket sales, entry drives, and audience engagement initiatives for US awards.
· Help to identify opportunities to grow The Drum’s events business in the US through new partnerships or formats.
Strategy & Development
· Contribute to shaping The Drum’s US event strategy in collaboration with senior leadership.
· Bring creative ideas to elevate the attendee experience and strengthen The Drum’s positioning in the US market.
· Champion best practice, consistency, and innovation across the event portfolio.
· Act as a local brand ambassador for The Drum, helping to raise awareness and build relationships across the US marketing, advertising, and media industries.
Team Collaboration
· Work with colleagues across marketing, content, video, and design to deliver cohesive, high-quality event experiences.
· While US-based, work as an integrated member of The Drum’s global events team, supporting the UK events team remotely / in person during key delivery periods and major events.
· Communicate effectively across time zones, ensuring alignment with the UK events team and seamless handovers between markets.
Travel & Representation
· Travel to other US cities (and if required internationally) to manage and deliver events.
