Skills
- Professional Engineer (PE) registration in Texas (or obtain within 6 months)
- Experience in bridge design, rehabilitation, scour mitigation and related structural work
- Project management skills to deliver multiple simultaneous projects
- Ability to prepare specifications, cost estimates and construction documents
- Strong written and verbal communication and stakeholder coordination
- Familiarity with public-sector procurement, contracting and reporting processes
- Valid driver’s license
Responsibilities
- Manage design and construction of bridge rehabilitation projects including contract administration and construction inspection
- Develop and implement a five-year bridge asset management and rehabilitation strategy for over 500 city bridge assets
- Review consultant-prepared designs and detailed drawings for bridges, retaining walls, and related structures
- Prepare specifications, estimates, quantity calculations and construction documents for bidding
- Review and approve payment requests and monitor project budgets and schedules
- Coordinate proactively with city leadership, other departments, residents, and state/federal agencies
- Support Engineering Manager in policy, procedure and standards development and improvements
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited institution
- Professional Engineer (PE) licensure in Texas (required)
