Skills
- Strong knowledge of governmental accounting / fund accounting
- Working understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Experience with ERP systems and general ledger modules
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas)
- Journal entry preparation and posting
- Account analysis and reconciliation skills
- Audit support and documentation experience
- Strong written and verbal communication and customer service skills
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities
Responsibilities
- Perform complex financial analysis and account reconciliations
- Monitor and maintain general ledger accounts
- Review, approve, and post journal entries
- Execute month-end and year-end closing activities
- Support the City's independent financial and single audits
- Collaborate with City departments and internal/external customers to resolve accounting issues
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and governmental (fund) accounting principles
- Complete other duties as assigned to support Accounting Division goals
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field from an accredited institution (minimum requirement)
- Equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience may be considered
