Engineer In Training - Stormwater Infrastructure

The City of Fort Worth Transportation and Public Works Department is hiring an Engineer in Training to support the Stormwater Management Division. The role focuses on storm drain condition assessment, CCTV inspection review, contract administration, budget tracking, and providing recommendations to operations and capital teams to protect people and property from harmful stormwater runoff.

Skills

  • Possession of Engineering-In-Training (EIT) registration in Texas or obtain within six months
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related engineering discipline
  • Familiarity with CCTV inspection standards and review processes
  • Proficiency with GIS applications and Microsoft Office Suite (including Excel)
  • Ability to learn and use asset management software
  • Experience or ability to perform contract administration and budget tracking
  • Valid Texas driver’s license and ability to perform field and office duties

Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary point of contact for the Storm Drain Rehabilitation Program and manage related inspection workflows
  • Review CCTV inspection videos and reports to identify defects and confirm correct asset start/end points
  • Oversee and administer the Reactive CCTV Inspection Contract ensuring quality, timeliness, and compliance
  • Monitor and track contract budgets, expenditures, and forecasting
  • Relay inspection findings and recommendations to consultants, Operations, and Capital Delivery teams
  • Support process improvements, standardization of review procedures, and long-term rehabilitation planning
  • Coordinate with Stormwater Development Services, Operations, and Capital Delivery teams on inspection outcomes

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or other engineering discipline from an accredited college or university
  • If licensed as EIT in another state, must obtain Texas EIT registration within six months of hire
  • Candidates without the stated degree may be considered with substantially relevant work experience
