Responsibilities
- Inspect residential, commercial, and vacant properties for code violations and hazards
- Enforce building codes, zoning regulations, and city ordinances
- Investigate complaints, interview complainants/witnesses, photograph violations, and document findings
- Maintain and update records and prepare inspection and case reports
- Assist in preparing cases for administrative or court proceedings and testify as needed
- Respond to public inquiries courteously and resolve complaints efficiently
- Participate in joint enforcement efforts with other city departments and law enforcement
Education
- High school diploma or GED
- Specialized training in code enforcement, building codes, zoning regulations, or related field
- Possession of or ability to obtain a Texas Code Enforcement Officer Certificate (or Officer in Training) within 18 months
