Staff Accountant
Staff Accountant is responsible for providing full-cycle bookkeeping and payroll support for small business clients across various industries. This role includes managing day-to-day accounting operations, reconciling financial data, assisting with tax preparation, and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
Responsibilities and Tasks
- Perform full-cycle bookkeeping for small businesses across diverse industries
- Process payroll using QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online
- Prepare payroll summaries and make journal entries in QuickBooks
- Manage accounts receivable (AR) and accounts payable (AP)
- Assist with 1040 Individual Tax Return preparation (basic data entry, training provided)
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, loan accounts, and payroll entries
- Submit payroll taxes and generate payroll reports
Communicate with clients primarily via email (occasional phone calls may be required) - Execute general administrative tasks as needed
- Collaborate proactively to improve accounting processes and support business growth
- 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in accounting and bookkeeping
- Associate’s degree in Accounting preferred (open to discussion based on experience)
- General understanding of tax accounting principles
- Ability to work independently and adapt to evolving business needs
- Willingness to learn and grow within the company
Hard Skills
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop
- Proficient in ProConnect tax software (preferred)
- Experience with EFTPS and other tax deposit platforms (training provided)
- Strong knowledge of bookkeeping, payroll, AR/AP, and tax basics
- Ability to navigate online banking and shared drives for data retrieval
