Skills
- Proficiency in 3D CAD and producing 2D drawings
- Experience with structural design and hand calculations
- Custom machine and electromechanical system design (motors, actuators, rails, bearings)
- Design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA)
- Familiarity with GD&T and drafting standards
- Experience with common manufacturing processes, CNC and manual machining
- Finite element analysis (FEA) experience and use of tools like ANSYS, NASTRAN, or Femap
Responsibilities
- Design and develop structures, mechanisms, and automation equipment for high-volume Starlink satellite production
- Own projects end-to-end from concept through fabrication, commissioning, and production bring-up
- Coordinate with flight design, production teams, vendors, and internal stakeholders to align satellite, factory, and process development
- Perform hand calculations and structural analysis to validate designs
- Create and release 3D CAD models and 2D drawings; ensure manufacturability and assembly
- Assemble, commission, and troubleshoot equipment on-site; support production ramp
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and supplier interactions in a fast-paced environment
Education
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline (required)
- Advanced degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering (preferred)
